You can flip them over when dead by jumping near/over them to get into the other bag. If they keep kicking shoot em in the eye and loot the bags. If they kick you or act like they will just jump on and ride and pat for 10 seconds then you can usually loot at least one side. After that I was roaming thorough the world and discovered loot boxes and Limpany gold and wisit them from time to time (they respawn from time to time) and when you now where to search you can start chapter 3 with over $21k as I did. There you can earn from $15 to $40 (depends on wagons and coaches).
Also did 'The spines of America' to unlock wagon fence.
This is important because you can get LoE satchel faster. Elk increases the the value of looted money by 10% and legendary buck gives you more chance for perfect animal pelt. After that mission I went to kill legendary elk and buck. Then I did two important missions 'Exit pursued by a bruised ego' to get Legendary animlas map and in this mission I have sold that black coat Shire for, if I remember correctly, $65 which gave me start with more than $100. $40 and other valuables such as rings, plates etc. When I started to play I didnt bother to get gold medals on two missions 'Old friends' and 'Who the hell is Levicitus Cornwall' I looted every one of them so from those two missions I have earned approx.
